what should i use? high heat gloss paint? was created by kzkamakazi
so heres my big question im sure someone can help with this one. so im working on making clean looking bike and the motor...well its not so clean i was thinking about polishing, but theres not much i can do since the previous owner lived by the ocean, so the motor has the aluminum corrosion like crazy, i had it acid washed by one of my budies who owns a detail shop it cleaned it up well but it didnt do as much i wanted it to. so i want to go ahead and just get the whole motor painted black to give it a more appealing look. can i just use the high heat spray paint or would i have to get it powder coated but i think that wouldnt work too well. i know regular spray paint will just chip off/burn off. what should i do?

I used PJ1 Satin black on mine. First I washed it ,then degreased it then I washed it again with a power hose,( clean, clean, clean)blew it dry with an air line ,masked it up and sprayed it.
It came up fantastic.

The paint is meant to cure from the engine heat, from running. Mine isnt running yet,it isnt even in the frame yet.Until then,it is vulnerable to fuel spills etc,so Im being very careful.
Anyway,Im very happy with how it turned out though I cant say one way or t'other about its longevity.
One thing to keep in mind with yours. If the alloy is damaged, ust painting it wont fix it .Itll look just as damaged, only in black.
You need to sand back as much of the corrosion as you can first. Make it look as good as you can, Clean the hell out of it,Then paint it.
As with all painting jobs, Its all in the preperation.
Good luck

+100 on the PJ1. I am spraying my engine right now but I did my valve cover a year or so ago. It still looks great!
I used the PJ1 Special Black Finish G. It's a porcelain paint.
Here is a pic of it going into my "paint oven" LOL

I primed mine with DP40 epoxy primer and painted with catalized acrylic enamel. That was 10+ years ago and it still looks good. No problems with engine heat.

Fantastic paint oven ThatGPzGuy. Did you get it at a specialist paint shop?? It looks expensive.
