Oil (yes, that question again)
12 Apr 2015 07:09
I hope I won't step into a beehive or anything here, since it seems most bike forums has debated this topic to death, so I'll be very specific since a search didn't help
Is 10w-40 the correct choice for my KZ700 in temperatures ranging from 5 to 30 degrees celsius (I think that's 40-85 f)? 90 % of the time it will be in 15-20 degrees I ride though.

That's the weight I run.

I've run Castrol GTX 20 50 in everything since 71. However I was out of the loop from 98 to 13 on my Z1. I've been using it now with no ill effects. Clutch still works good. I may need a new one soon due to age, not the oil.

99% of my rides are between 65 and 85 so I feel 10/40 is best ...... for my area anyway and yours too.

I always ran 10-40 for winter (temps about 30 - 60F) and in the summer I would blend 10-40 and 20-50 half and half for temps in the 60 - 90F range.
