I have two KZ1000 police bikes. My 2001 model is the bomb. I just also got a 1982 with uncertain history. It runs great, shifts great, does not hesitate, smoke, knock, rattle or anything. But it does make more engine noise (not exhaust noise) than the newer one. It goes whoosh whoosh whoosh at idle, some might call it a ssshhh, shhhhh, ssssh, the noise follows the RPM, even in neutral. Its definitely louder than the 2001. It does seem louder than typical air cooled engine noise, but maybe not. What is normal?
Update| Problem solved. It's in the starter clutch system which is not disengaging after the engine starts.Gonna pull the rotor after my cover gasket comes in.
