shorter clutch cable? was created by 60ratrod
Is there a shorter clutch cable i can get for my 81 kz1000m1? I swapped the bars for some clubmans and had to get a little creative with the cable routing to make the cable look shorter, and no, there are no sharp bends, so the clutch cable still operates nice and smoothly

There's probably an oem cable from a standard KZ you could use. Or get an aftermarket cable.
I installed a MotionPro 03-0030 from Z1Enterprises.com (49.5" L w 4" slack).
Possible models for an oem cable: KZ550A/H, KZ750E/R, KZ1000J.
For the needed length, disconnect the cable at the clutch lever, route it so that it looks correct, then figure out the overage there at the grip. Then go to Z1Enterprises to see what would be a good match.
Before ordering a new cable, check the amount of slack on the current cable (end-to-end movement).
I got a shorter throttle cable once that wouldn't work because it didn't have enough slack.

A 1978 or 1980 KZ1000 Z1R cable might be shorter. Measure yours and call Z1 Enterprises ....they can tell you the available lengths on the Po -Motion cables for a KZ.

Just my opinion but I'd much rather have an OEM cable over Motion Pro. As mentioned, an OEM cable off a similar bike that wears low bars should take care of business. For my 750E I bought a set of GPZ cables.
