What kind of bike is it?
The rod is your clutch push rod.

The external shifter mechanism is under the broken side cover. here are a couple of pictures from the manual. You should et a factory manual, they are cheap on ebay.

01 Jan 2015 22:46 - 01 Jan 2015 22:48Bummer, hope it didn't take out any leg meat. If ever there was a picture proving why it makes sense to spend $90 on a quality chain, that's it.....suspectcobra wrote: so, my chain broke about a week ago and took part of my engine with it,
BTW, the pic you posted is rotated 90 degrees and had me scratching my head a while. I have ridden a 79 KZ750 B4 for 35 years now and I couldn't figure out what those things were either for a couple of minutes.... but I'm old and senile.

Not too bad. Rotate the pic 90 Deg. The push rod you can buy or make, the cover you may have to buy new if not on eBay.

Come to think of it, I think there is a 750 motor being parted out here. Might be a good deal for spare parts.

Good friend of mine snapped his chain on his brand new 160 Honda (took out the case ... oil pouring out). We were both only 15 so you can imagine how bummed he was and worried ........ Honda dealer took the motor apart and replaced it for 160 dollars.
Was we thought a really good deal and he did it right ..... ran good, but then the bike was only 650 bucks new back then too.
