Stator Cover bolts

24 Nov 2014 15:11
#654535
So, my stator cover bolts weren't torqued properly and shook loose leaving me with no bolts to secure the stator cover to the engine case, I was wondering if anyone had the bolt specs (bolt diameter, thread type and length) so I can order replacements

It would help if you told the members the year and model of your bike.
I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

You can go to your hardware store and get some Allen head # 6 bolts. Measure the thickness of the cover and add 5/8" or so. Cheap fix for the time being.

swest I think you mean an M-6 not a # 6.

CJ take a screw out of another case and go to Lowe's or home depot
and match up the thread and get Allen head's. long enough.
The Lowe's here seem to have a good stock of metric black and stainless nut's'
bolt's and screw's.

Thanks for the help guys, from what I had measured previously I thought they were M-5 but I could only find them long enough at the local fastenal store after finding out they weren't I didn't' want to go back until I knew exactly which size. I just measured the depth on the case and it looks like the top left and bottom right should be 6x40s, top right should be 6x50 and bottom left should be 6x55.

Thanks, I was actually looking for a diagram and couldn't find one, it's interesting that the bolt length I measured is different than that listed in the parts diagram. :/

Your'e right M 6. Any good hardware store will have them. Expensive though. You can order a full kit on line but for the time being I meant.
