What "extra ports" do you mean? Are you referring to the "clean air" apparatus? If so, why would you want to use that as it often cause problems as the reed valves fail? Many folks plug those up so their engines run better. Ed

The ports that are in the heads under the valve guides these are the heads with the different can covers..

Right. Those different covers have the reed valves in them which are part of the "clean air" system. They do not help performance if that is your objective. Ed

There are threads here in the archives detailing how some guys thread the air injection ports and install plugs to block off the system. An easier option is to get the later valve cover and just connect the two reed valve ports together with a hose, or fab up or purchase, block off plates for the reeds. I've got a couple spare valve covers from a KZ750 which I think is the same just in case that would help. PM me as appropriate.

go to the hardware store and get some 3/8" fine thread allen set screws. tap the holes so that the set screws run in flush to the top. then you can run an older style valve cover without the reed valves on it. this is much simpler and cleaner looking than blocking off the reed valves.
If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Correct, You will need a plug tap to do the job. holes are the correct size so you don't even have to drill, just tap the holes.
