Leaking oil from tachometer drive

Like the tittle says, my question is I unscrewed the cable from the motor and pulled it free, how do I remove the oil seal? Can I repair this with the valve cover still on? I looked inside there all I see is the thing the tach cable slides into, I was tempted to pull that out as well with a pliers to access the seal. But was not sure.

Looks like there is a seal, gasket and O ring.

FYI: I finally got mine to stop leaking by making a gasket to seal where the cable flange butts against the drive piece.
