I have a manual that says you can use a top cap bolt to do this along with a ball bearing .my top caps on both bikes are different ones .I'm stuck in a wheelchair and I can send the wife to the hardware store but I need to know the size of this bolt to use..anybody know? While I'm here any tips for splitting the stuff apart without using the proper tools  Thanks

On the z900/1000 the swingarm spindle or rear wheel spindle can be used.

I've done that before and it works......although I used the center bolt that goes through the steering neck, use the largest ball bearing you can that fits into the dynamo center hole without seizing
