I could be wrong on these I went by looks and now noticed the part # is KM-111 so they are made by someone other than Kawasaki and K and L.

The shortness on the ones I got comes from them not having the sixteenth of an inch 45 degree'd angle at the bottom the stockers have and are straight.

Maybe this company built that little extra into them without the angle ?? The price isn't that bad anyway since you need the valve cover gasket so I hope they work out.

Please let us know ....... This could be an answer to my problem too. Thanks.

Where'd you get that part number?
Everywhere I checked it's 92066-1111 & I think they're still available from the dealer.

To the op: the 81 manual indicates where you're supposed to apply a liquid gasket to the rubber plugs.

I got the part number from the original Kawasaki KZ650 parts catalog (see first image below). 92066-1011 was the original part number (see 2nd image) and at some point it was superseded by 92066-1111. I believe you are correct about the 92066-1111 part still being available from Kawasaki. Powersportswarehouse.com shows it not yet being discontinued. Ed

Please go to page 33 and look for the thread "valve cover mating surfaces" Ed has a great picture of the stock oem 1011 plug installed that will show you the good sixteenth of an inch 45 degree angle that is missing on these replacement plugs. Also check out the hole size ...... the bolt threads into the plug in the top picture where as the hole is again a good sixteenth of a inch bigger on the new one in the picture here.

The end plugs I received with the kit mentioned look just like Ed's picture
There is a groove in the head that the raised portion fits into, almost like snapping in
No reason for the bolt to thread thru the plug when it's just going to thread into the block
