pdog, if you'll be wrenching on your ride, you really need to find a service manual. An orig Kawi Service Manual is strongly suggest. Search ebay and look at the back page of the FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your specific model and year. They are specific and you do need to get the right year.
Good luck, keep us posted...

2. The only time the bike should be flipped over is when you are crashing.
3. The starter clutch is for the electric starter. The kick start uses a different mechanism.
4. Get the correct factory shop manual before you take anything apart.

My 3 recommendations:
1. Don't even THINK about working on the bike without the Kawasaki Service Manual in your hands!
2. Don't even THINK about working on the bike without the Kawasaki Service Manual in your hands!

I'm not joking. Ed

Have seen a guy that did his from the bottom and one guy put his bike on the side but not me ..... I'll be pulling the motor again. Expect around 230 to 250 bucks if you replace the unit and gear, ( which most say you should) pan gasket, o rings, clutch hub nut , thrust washers, oil, filter, clutch holder tool etc......clutch basket needs to come off along with oil pan, and oil pump to get to it.
My Clymer manual explains it better and shows the job better than the factory manual but others might not agree. Anyway good luck and get a few more ideas by Goggling or Binging the job.
