kick starter
20 Sep 2014 04:02 - 20 Sep 2014 16:01
Hi, looking for a little help with my project.
I rebuilt my Z900 engine, reco head new pistons bored, cam chain and all the other bits & bobs,
Put it back into the frame fitted kick starter, first the kicker wouldn't return and now it won't move at all. I hope I don't
have to strip the motor again, what have I done wrong, cheers.

It may just be that you installed the return spring wrong......take the small cover off ( before you get into the major strip down) take out the spring and re-install it, it is a bit tricky, Do you have a service manual to help you?

I will assume you have a service manual (hopefully the factory one) if you did the rebuild yourself so that should have all the pics and directions you need...

Thanks worked it out, I hadn't rotated the shaft fully clockwise before fitting the return spring, cheering about that.
