Gaskets seeping was created by calvinhobbesfan92
Hi everybody. I recently went on vacation and stored my bike in a garage for about 10 days. When I came back my bike (which up until now has never leaked a drop) developed a couple oil seeps around the head gasket. Very small but leaking none the less.
My questions is this- is there something I can add to my oil that will revitalize the gaskets until I have time to tear everything apart and replace with new gaskets? Since its an 83 I'm planning on replacing all the gaskets and doing a full tune up this winter.

Head gasket or cam cover gasket
either way, you can try torqueing the nuts down with the engine cold to the right foot or inch lbs. & in the proper sequence according to the FSM for your bike, & that Might fix the problem

Oil was changed about 100 miles ago. Still pretty fresh. I just used Valvoline 10w40.
Just had an electrical fire under my seat pan 30 mins ago. Looks like I won't be riding till I get that figured out. Any electrical gurus here?

If it's Valvoline CAR oil it will ruin your clutch. You need to use oil that has JASO-MA marked on the container. I doubt the Valvoline is causing the leak. Ed

Sounds like a "hard" short to get a fire going. It means it's main wiring that doesn't go through a fuse like wiring to and from the battery or starter can do it.
Is the wiring stock or has somebody modified it?

It has been modified. The last owner spliced two LED strips for brake light and turn signals. I took those off when I purchased the bike. I guess the only thing to do now is to take my wiring diagram and trace everything. Or, buy a new wiring harness with no cuts!
