I havn't been everywhere - but it's on my list!

Hi everyone,
Greetings from a first-season-rider from Denmark!
I recently got back from a trip in Europe with a friend. I drive a 1980 KZ650 and on the trip I ran into som oil-issues. I think I almost ran empty at some point, but i got her filled up again. On our way back the space beneath the carbs and behind the engine was covered in oil and so was my rear-tyre.
I havn't been able to find a new engine breather cover, as it has a crack in it. This happened due to my attempt to locate the oil-leak by tightening the cover-screw - way to go, butthead! You guys know where it might be leaking from? And where can I buy a new breather cover that fits?
Thank you in advance!

sounds like you added too much oil........ if you over fill the oil level in the crankcase ,the excess oil will come out of the crank case vent.......or blow by from cylinder/ piston damage or low oil level damage. :S

Does your bike have the stock air box and the L-shaped hose that connects the breather to the air box? Ed

No I replaced it with K&N pods, but have mounted a hose going up beneath the tank with some basic filtering inside.
It might be an overload. Hopefully..
Tanks for the link!

Does your bike have the center stand? And how did you determine that the oil was low?
The normal procedure for checking the oil is to place the bike level on the center stand, engine off, give the oil some time to settle, then check the level at the oil gauge sight glass. Without a center stand or on an un-level surface, you could get an incorrect reading (too high or too low).

It started clicking very loudly when giving throttle - a very metallic sound. I left it over night and checked the oil-glass, which didn't have any oil in it, regardless how much I tipped it over. And when I filled her up, the noise went away
