I am looking to freshen up my 77 KZ1000B. I have been thinking about a new / used motor and was wondering if the KZ1000J motor was a straight swap. Years ago on the old KZR sight when I was a member I thought I remembered that there might be some modifications required.

Thank you, appreciate any insight.

The front engine mounts are different. I think the rears work but the fronts are a different design.

hahn racecraft use to make a front mount conversion so you could use a J engine in a kz /z frame :S .....I don't think they make the kit any longer  .... should not be hard to make one

Thanks for the help guys, May have to venture out and try the swap, looks like I may need to shave the front tabs on mine, guess I won't know until I get it home, I thought there was some issue with the valve cover clearance on the frame?
