ATP wastegate Z1R was created by mrdatsunturbo
Hi
Took of my ATP wastegate today just for a check and the small steel ball was not there?
I checked my manual and you see it on the drawing and it says where to install it.
But can you tell me exactly what this ball do? because as it looks for me the only thing it will do
is float around inside spring. Thanks again

so i checked some more and it loks like somebody has done some wastegate modification here.
it is a vent hole in bottom beside pressure adjustment bolt, and it looks like the ball have been sitting after
line from manifold inside wastegate housing.
Does this sound like a good idea? Difficult to find some drawing on this piece of wastegate.
Any advice what wastegate to buy? Thanks

Some photos might help elicit responses. Easier to picture it with both words and an image.

Mine:
04 Honda rebel 250(wifes)
04 GSXR 750(bolt on galore)
98 CBR 600F3(filter, pipe, adjustable cam sprokets, dyno tune)
76 KZ900A (LTD gauge pods, crash bars, LTD(style)pipes, dyna coils and ignition, headwork and mild port cleanup by cavanaugh racing, K&N filter pods, heck I dunno.

Quiet about this wastegate set up, none with a good idea?
I tried air pressure in pilot line and most of the air straight thru vent hole in bottom
I will buy a newer wastegate but what make is working for this bikes?thanks

as expected this is not working so i have to order another type of wastegate.
when applying pressure the ball will move and lock piston in open position.

Wow...the traffic has been so slow around here. I can't believe nobody has been able to chime in. Just to be clear, I haven't the foggiest clue about wastegates, but there atleast used to be a couple members running custom Turbo setups.

First off Hello, Second take a deep breath. I don't believe you made conformation of faulty part. I have had mine operational for 29 years, ..and 150,000miles I had to clean it once because worn engine guides+rings letting oil get to it, and more. ...I forget all the details of the inside, I just serviced one and sold it,months ago. .....Mine has a vent in it....... Why do you think it is modified??....You said you put air to (pilot line) is that the 1 going to gauge??. If so, that is air backwards......If you want to pressure test it , you have to air up 1"-inlet, maybe bicycle pump. Maybe build a "PVC" adapter set up with car air valve. IT would allow you to have ATP gauge connected and perform pound readout and a leak-down as well. It would say if you needed to lap the valve in again. Or a leaky cracked hose, Waste gate hose cracks because of exhaust heat at the bend going up to gauge.. ..... If I remember right the ball was on the end of the adjuster screw. If you have some paperwork you could post it would refresh my memory a bit. ....Or else I will have to take mine off...... I am moving in a couple o weeks so trying to pack up not work on the scooter......show me pic of piston(bucket) wear mark on the bottom....no reason spend money yet, Base line screw adjustment,,,, when you feel screw touch piston(bucket) start counting from there about 3-5 turns will start raising boost from "" 0 "" on your gauge. Depending on spring condition........My bike is on KZ 750"s pg 34 ....It was built by ATP and on "Kawasaki Good Times Touring "display at Laguna Seca

i took it apart the steel ball was missing and piston was upside down??
I am on my way with the camera :)

here is pictures from wastegate, not good pictures from manual but it looks like the ball sitting in bottom of spring seat.As you can see there is one plain side of the sproing seat and other side must be against boost adjustment ??
theres is no wear on my piston just some marks from when it was upside down against adjustment bolt.
hope this will help us .

They are simple, I would call it analog compared to digital. I think the ball kept the screw from messing up bucket. Did you ask me for a rebuild kit 4 the carb a while back??

It was backwards, The seat has the proper screw marks. Ball is confusing, too tired to think. I can ring up Mr Turbo and get a answer Tues.
