I use 15W - 40 Rottella non synthetic
a KZ 1000 uses 3.7 quarts.......might need a bit more with new filter.
Sorry, not up on 750 usage?
One 4 qt container cost: $ 13.00

Look on the lower part of the right hand side of your engine. You should see a round site glass there. with upper an lower lines marked on it. When you change you oil & filter the oil level should be near the upper line. Near that site glass the case should have the oil quantity cast into it and the filler cap should show the appropriate oil weight. With the filter my KZ650 takes about 3.7 quarts, but use the line to make the amount right.
I use 10w-40, and that is what I would recommend for Illinois. There are a number of good oils, but you need to use oil that had JASO-MA marked on the container. This is very important because other oils may (usually WILL) contain friction modifiers that will ruin your bike's wet clutch. I use Mobil-1 4T Racing oil. It is NOT car oil. Don't use car oil in your bike; use motorcycle oil or Rottella. Ed

10-40 or 15-40 is OK for warm weather.

It probably says 3.5 L (small cursive L -->> ℓ )(3.5L ~= 3.7 qts).
