I'm looking for a lower left side 4 into 4 exhaust pipe for my Z1B. I know one can get complete repo exhaust pipe sets but all I need is the lower left pipe. The othert three are solid. Doesn't have to be showroom condition. Could even be for a 76 KZ.900. If some one knows where one of these pipes are hiding I sure would appreciate the info on it. I followed Seymores advice and put a post up in wanted too.
I am getting closer the refinishing my Z1 after it sat for over a year. If you remember I ended up with bent valves after letting my youngest daughters boyfriend ride it. Got the valves in put the head on. Cam chain was stuck down someplace. We had to pull the head to get the chain back up. note to self: hang on to wire on cam chain and don't loose it down inside.
Got the cam chain out, re-installed the head with another set of $60.00 in gaskets. When adjusting the valves I duscovered the new intake valves need thinner shims than I had on hand.....HMMM Don't the valves in general get tighter with use? Took the head back off and back to the machine shop. The Tech did a great job, he just forgot to check stem height. He ground the stems for no charge after I brought a FSM to him.
Head back on, another $60.00 in gaskets, valves all checked good. Put the motor back in the bike and stuck in new plugs. Installed the carbs and started on the exhaust. Ran into a problem with repaired pipe. But at least the motor has good compression using the kick starter to turn over slowly. :silly: .
One of these days the old gal will be back on the road. Tim
