I know been a million threads on this but their like 3 manuals on what the valve clearance should be what would u recommend before I put this engine back on the chassis I want everything to be perfecto u know....I know their are differences to tight and loose but I just had it machined and I'm hoping get many miles out of it...what clearence worked best for everyone...1980 kz750 four....another thing since I have new rings and had it honed how do u go about wearing it in...will I have full compression of the bat also how many miles should I change the oil filter and do a oil change..I'm entering new territory with this high rpm engine rebuild just like the insight from you master kz rebuilders and owners...thanks

Aim for the middle of range on intakes, just a hair on loose side for exhaust valves.
Id put about 50 miles on it myself and dump oil/filter,look for any shiny stuff in the oil.Once the motor has been heated/cooled a couple times retorque the head bolts/nuts. :)
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

Here's my experience with my KZ650. I believe the 4 cylinder KZ750 has a very similar layout. I would shoot for the middle. Ed

What does your manual give for a range on the 750?

Also not to sound dumb were fobi measure the clearance with the lobe pointing in what direction my manual says up like if the lobe was center of a clock at 12 a clock I read somewhere that was wrong why I also don't trust the clearence it gives me in the manual

I have a 1000, that being said my FSM had a very specific position for the cams for each valve to be measured. I measured several at center of base circle thinking that would be acceptable. When I re measured using the FSM I got different measurements. Some on here have thought cam spring action on the cams/bearings have an impact and the positions in the manual compensates for that. I would recommend getting the info from the FSM before taking measurements. Since we have different bikes the FSM for your bike may match Clymers. Good hunting, Keith
