Confirms what I found too. It's always parts! Price we pay to play with these fine pieces. I find the searches for sources and best price to be the most tedious part. Embrace the shopping, its you only option to keep your sanity.

Don't skimp on the rings, I put some eBay rings in mine a while back,(about 1000miles) and they are still not seating. I have talked to others on here with similar problems. Its likely gonna cost me another head and base gasket, plus the cost of a good set of wiseco rings to fix. (The bike runs fine, but Pike's oil smoke on cold startups...occasionally)
Mine:
04 Honda rebel 250(wifes)
04 GSXR 750(bolt on galore)
98 CBR 600F3(filter, pipe, adjustable cam sprokets, dyno tune)
76 KZ900A (LTD gauge pods, crash bars, LTD(style)pipes, dyna coils and ignition, headwork and mild port cleanup by cavanaugh racing, K&N filter pods, heck I dunno.

First of all, check the ring groove size. There are two kz750 pistons. The first one had 1.5 and 1.5mm compression rings and the later one 1.0 and 1.2mm

The 750 had 66mm pistons. Measure a piston with a caliper to see if it is 66mm. The metric oversize will be .25 or.50mm so it should be easy to check. Also if the pistons are oversize it is usually stamped on the top of the piston. You would see .50 mark on the top... but not always.
If your measuring in inches 1 inch is 24.5mm, divide your measurement by 24.5 to get mm.

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Where are you finding stock rings for $40/hole? I've been looking for the same rings and haven't found any this cheap. Kawasaki PN 13008-5031. I'd buy OS pistons and rings as an alternate but they have been discontinued.
