I live in Tokyo Japan.
You have nice 550.
I read the thread.
It is very difficult to install 4 valve to 2 valve Engine.
Because piston forms and crankshaft..etc very different.
If you want more power, use the Wiseco piston and Keihin or Mikuni flat-valve carburetor.
I think Flat-valve cab is very effective for ZR.
Please use the link as a reference(Please use Google transfer)

I wish want to help you...
Thank you for all the information, Evilride. It's a shame that it's so difficult to change to a 4 valve engine - that would have been a fun project. But I did see some interesting modifications in the link you shared, including a modified 650cc engine ( www.mars.dti.ne.jp/~tu-121/ ). 73 horsepower would be amazing!! :woohoo: Is there a kit to buy or was that project all custom work? I have only seen Wiseco 615 kits before.

The Zephyrs were not as popular here. They were only sold for a couple of years, so they are very rare. There is a nice forum dedicated to just Zephyrs you might like, though there aren't many people on it just because there aren't that many Zephyrs left on the road. www.zephyr-zone.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

I am very glad to help you.
There was a TAKATORI 650cc kit,but now we could not get the kit .Because of ZR series stopped production.
ps-takatori.com/boaup/boaup-kawasaki.html
Now in japan, there is only two way of bore-up.
1: POSH High-compression 510cc kit.
2:Bring own bike to Technical Pro shop.
himeji-gs.com/
This shop makes 710cc!! The price is about 7000 USD.
So I think use the wiseco kit is the best way.And then use gpz 400 cams is better.
Or,,,there were Yoshimura Stage 1 High-cams for 2 valve before. But now it is sold out.
I found the last 1 set at shop.If you need that, I send to you

My brother gifted me his basket case KZ1000 Police. ("Basket case" meaning disassembled, with the pieces in several boxes or baskets.)

Oh, wow, that's incredible. Sounds like a potential export opportunity for people on this site with Zs...though it might be hard convincing them at any price..

710cc!! and $7000!! Both figures are shocking. I couldn't find any information on performance. How much power does a 550 engine put out when bored to 710cc? Does the engine last more than three seconds?
I'm curious about the Yoshimura Stage 1 High-cams. Please send more information. There is a shop here in California that grinds performance cams for KZs, GPZs, ZRs - Megacycle. There is a member on this forum (Corey - he posted earlier on this thread) who modified his GPZ 550 with a Wiseco 615, K&N pod filters, Megacycle Cams and Moriwaki race exhaust and now gets about 80 hp (at the crank, 65hp at the wheel).
