camshaft powerbands

I have two cams one is a .410 lift .266 duration. And the other is a .395 lift .256 duration . Was wondering what the power band was on these cams the .395 I had in my old motor and it started pulling around 4000 rpm but was a dog below that . I read that the .410 is something like 6500 rpm and up before it pulls . What doing u have in your bikes ? And we're is your power band at ? Am in the process of selecting a cam to install . At the moment I think am going with the .395 cause the head is already clearance for the lobes. has high performance valve springs install. I don't really have a lot of money to spend . Am trying to stay away from shim under buckets .and over sized any thing . What are your thoughts ?

In a nutshell, the lower lift and shorter duration will give you a (little) less top end with the benefit of a (little) more bottom end

1135cc ,10.5cr ,stock valves , ported head ,34mm rs Mikunis. 6" Extended swingarm , dyna2000 ign. 3.0 ohm coils. Making a pro street out of it . I do plan on riding on the street but just like to car shows around town no more then 5 miles no freeway . But I still want something that will be competitive at the track . By the way what kind of horsepower do u think it will make ? And et with 170lbs rider ?

You might want to check your duration @ what lift. I do recall the 395 cam has 256 duration @ .05 and usually the 410 cams have in the 260 range

Id make a wild guess of around 120hp at the rear wheel with the ,410s.
Track times depend on too many different variations. ;)

Yep, pretty sure you would find 60 to 70 hp at the wheel on a stock KZ1000.

Well there you go. I was just guessing (a little low apparently), but here is the voice of experience.
