so next question is engine- transmission, so my transmission wont shift into 2nd - 5th with it turned off and rocking it is there a block on these bikes meaning it wont shift into 2-5th with out engine power..? or does it mean I get to open a case..?

will a 1000 from 81+ *2005..? fit in these bikes..? as a direct drop in replacement..? bike is shaft
and if I split the cases what special tools will I need, I know there is one for the valves but do I need one for clutch basket or any other part..?

It's a design feature that allows shifting upward from neutral only when the rear wheel is rolling forward. In other words, can't shift upward from neutral unless the rear wheel is rolling forward. With bike on center-stand, and in neutral, should be able to hand-turn the rear wheel forward sufficiently fast enough to shift from neutral into 2nd and on up and down the gears. Of course, drive chain must be attached between counter-shaft and drive sprockets (duh  ).

Good Fortune! :)
