Carb Choices kz1000 1075
21 Jul 2014 10:43
So I see a lot of topic covering carbs for a 1075 with new cams but not stock cams. Also what tuning should be done to my stock head to help it other than porting (valve lift). Porting will happen next spring into summer by a member on here. Till then what would be a good choice for carbs/tuning?

That's because the 1075 pistons alone really don't create a "demand" for more fuel. The bike I have (been fiddling with all summer) has 1075 pistons, and stock cams. The previous owner had some light port work done, but it has stock cams. I run the stock VM26's, and simply re-jetted them to match the exhaust & K&N's. When I am not chasing other unrelated gremlins down, the bike runs very well with them. At least for me, I don't think it would be worth the money or the time involved retuning (or paying someone to dyno tune) a different set of carbs, without swapping for hotter cams and getting some "real" port work done. The big changes in HP are not going to be achieved unless you do the 3 things and make them compliment one another - increase displacement, hotter cams, carbs. So one of the things you might want to think about doing to that head when it's off the bike is having it clearanced for bigger cams down the road.... and run your stock carbs til then. But that's just me.

Keihin CR Special Roundslide Racing Carburetors - 31mm CR31
I saw those (above) but I have the 29 pumpers. I have dyna ignition. Right now I have a little bit of leak down on my exhaust valves. Not sure if its the valves or the seating. Problem is that my proformance shop is full, 3-8 weeks out. I want to get this all together in a month because we are moving to tampa.

for your head and stock cams you should keep what you have and spend money some where else.
