Engine noise

Hello gentlemen. I have a slight to moderate ticking in my 78 kz1000. Is there any flood way of determining weather it's cam chain or valve related. Thank you

Is it doing it when the motor idles then goes away when you give it a little gas?

It does seem to be more noticable at idol than when I rev it up. But I do have a 4 into 1 header which is kinda loud.
Thanks again

Can you isolate the 'ticking'? Front of motor? Top of motor (use a large screwdriver as a stethoscope)? Could be something as simple as as exhaust leak or perhaps more complicated.

Like Mcdroid said, could be an exhaust leak,. did you remove old exhaust gaskets, & replace with new copper gaskets ?

The cam chain will make a little noise sometimes at lower rpms when the motor is cold or carbs are out of synch.
