So i was told this this should not have this much play, do I need to replace the Rear hub damper?

Yes; you were told right. That looks really bad. Mine has zero play that can be detected by hand. The damper should keep the hub and wheel very snug and the only "play" should be that of the rubber damper compressing when accelerating or braking with the engine. Ed
