I had an older motorcycle mechanic tell me a kz550 trans will go in a kz1000. Any truth to this? If so, any cons to this swap?

kawasaki.com may be of help toward determining which transmission parts may be interchangeable, if any.

Compare the width of the gears in the two transmissions, then tell me if you think there are any cons to this swap. I don't believe it's possible anyway, the fellow telling you that was probably talking about the 550 trans fitting in the 650/750 four motors.

Maybe his way of thinking is, if you use a 550 trans. he'll have room for 2 more gears, & you can have a 7 speed :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
