Exhaust question 82 kz750ltd

I removed my exhaust today. My manual says I'm supposed to have gaskets on my exhaust, but I didn't see any. Before a jam a new set in I wanted to make sure there isn't a set already in that has just attached itself to the bike. What do you guys think. I know it probably a stupid question so thanks in advance for the help. ;)

Got the balls to tap them with a screw driver. Seems that the PO used some kinda of adhesive on them. With a little coaxing I got them to pop on out.

Do you have a pick set, like this www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/prod.../i/m/image_16048.jpg
or use a small screwdriver & see if you can feel & pull them out, Be careful not to doult there were none in there, your exhaust would have been leaking
hard to tell with the pics. but those black rings look like they could be them

It seems so... gasket are difficult to keep in place when fitting exhaust headers. It is not a one man job... but a little grease helps to stick them there for a while.

I use some heavy grease to hold my bike's exhaust gaskets in place, whenever I've got the exhaust system off. To hold the "Keepers"(the half moon shaped parts), I use either masking tape, or rubber bands to hold the parts together. It'll smell for a short while, but not very long.

Use wheel bearing grease as a glue. I tighten the nuts alternately in pairs & gradually by hand & by feel without over tightening. Then the muffler nuts. Then go on a test ride & retighten the nuts by hand. The torque for the exhaust holder nuts is in INCH/lbs, so do not over tighten them.

From the first picture in dom2750s post above I wondered the exhaust gaskets were the thicker type Yamaha gaskets.

They were the standard copper type gasket. Cylinder 1-3 came out pretty easy with the help of a jewelers screwdriver; however cylinder 4 was a pain in the ass. Of course it was the first one I tried which is why I questioned if there were any in the first place.

I didn't have any issues getting the new ones in, but I will have to try that grease tip in the future if I run into problems.
