I don't want to remove/reinstall the entire spark advance mechanism if I can just spray the proper lubricant on the advance weight pivot points & springs to get the advancer to move a bit more freely and come in as needed. It functions but I suspect advance is slow to pull in. What is the proper lubricant to use?

This for an 82 KZ750 H3 LTD

Some of us use a very light oil, like sewing machine one.

Spraying oil on it won't clean the parts that are in contact with each other. It is not a big project to remove it, thoroughly clean it, and properly lubricate it. If you don't know the last time this was done it is past due. Ed

The Kawasaki factory service manual says to separate the rotor from the advancer body & to fill the groove with grease. I do not know the correct lubricant --- the last time I used a high temp disk-brake/wheel-bearing grease. I tried white lithium grease & dielectric silicone grease, but those kinda evaporated or something.

I used bearing grease on mine too. Taking it apart was simple. Just pay attention because you can put ghe cylinder part on 180 degrees off and the bike won't start. Just pay attention to how it's on or mark it.

Reportedly, top-grade slackers use an eye-dropper, hypo-syringe, q-tip, or whatever to reach through the timing inspection window and apply a drop of motor oil onto each of the two weight arm pivots.

Cum laud slackers first prep the pivots with Kroil, Liquid Wrench, 50-50 mixture of ATF/Acetone, or other penetrant.

If it looks like this:

Would read my tutorial on restoration with muratic acid.

Good Fortune! :)
