KZ250 clutch cable length

First post here, so very sorry if it's in the wrong section. I have a kz305 csr that I'm giving a Cafe treatment to, and I need a shorter clutch cable due to having clip-ons on the bike now. I attempted to shorten the stock cable on my own, and that didn't work out so well... So I'm wondering if maybe the 250 clutch cable could work, since I'm having a way easier time finding them online than the 305 cables.

I can solder, and making one from this kit seems easier than modifying a stock cable.

A ready-to-install custom-made cable may be available from MotionPro for not much more expense.
