kz 650 H CSR clutch release-CLUTCH LIFTER RELEASE
02 Jun 2014 08:45
Hey all,
I was replacing a clutch cable on the weekend, the cable I ordered was too short so I put the old one back on.
For whatever reason, after removing the clutch release, it wont work as in there is no resistance.
I did this with the help of a motorcycle mechanic. He took the clutch release mechanism off and took it apart.
There was only one ball bearing left inside the internal mechanism.
He said to try to get a replacement or failing that, get replacement bearings.
My question is does anyone know where to find the full clutch release mechanism for the CSR model or can anyone tell me what size bearing it uses?
The mechanic said that because there is only one bearing, it does not slide back into place but after looking in the manual and online I recall that there was no spring between the mechanism and the cable end.
Does this sound right to you guys?
Would I be best to get new bearings and just find a suitable spring?
Cheers,
M

According to Kawasaki.com the balls are 1/8" and there should be 11 of them (see image below). If any of the other parts of the assembly are damaged you usually can find new old stock replacements on eBay. Ed

Thanks,
I've ordered a pack of bearing. The is a spring that goes between where the cable locks into the release mechanism and the cover plate body that is also missing, this part is discontinued but I have ordered an assortment of compression springs so hopefully one of them will be suitable.
Cheers,
M
