Engine dies as soon as I engage the clutch

My 96 kz1000 p has had some oil leaks. I bought it two years ago and have been running it ever since. I've replaced many parts with success however I have recently failed and I'm not sure how. I had a carb that kept overflowing while I was on a 3500 mile ride last summer. Finally I decided to remove the carbs and clean them. With all the room available I thought it would be a great idea to replace all the o-rings. So the air breather, the oil pressure sensor and the cam chain tensioner all have new orings. Now the bike starts and sounds a bit funny, but the problem is that it dies as soon as the clutch is engaged. How bad did I mess up?

G'day Russ, maybe the safety cutout switch on the side-stand is not operating properly? ... ie If you try to take off with the stand down this kills the engine - maybe it was disturbed during rebuild or it has failed....?

I charge that I have installed the wedge pin incorrectly. I will confirm soon.

Incorrectly installed-yes. Fix-no. One MUST rotate the engine to top dead center BEFORE removing the tensioner. If you do not do this you will probably mess up the cam timing.
