white smoke , center 2 not firing
30 May 2014 17:06
I'm doing the float level agony thing, keep getting frustrated and leave it alone for a couple weeks. I'm trying different used pickup coils. I use clear gas with stabilizer. I put in a different pickup coil and got huge volumes of white smoke and only the outside two pipes get warm. The pickup coil read within limits, 350-540 ohms - Stress tested with a ceramic heater. Put the pick up coil which fails when it gets hot back on still smokes and cylinders two and three don't work. no vacuum ports loose. The ohms on both ignition coil's front terminals are the same. All 4 cylinder's should be causing a lean condition by the clear tube method with between 5 1/2 and 7 mm of air below the carb body - specifications say between 4 and 5 mm.

Are 2+3 plugs wet with gas? Could be that the gas level is too low, hense not good air fuel mix for combustion. Id set levels and recheck. Also are you sure you have spark? Colud also be a bad coil or wiring to coil. Good luck
