The boots are not the problem. You can and will need to buy replacements for them because the old ones will be hard as granite and unusable. New boots are pliable. Old boots simply are not worth fighting with when installing or removing the carbs.
The problem is that if you buy an airbox that does not have the cap and the inside piece the airbox is worthless because the cap is an essential part of the box. Take a look at the image below. You will notice I have drawn a red rectangle around the cap and the inside piece. Those must be with the airbox, and they are NOT available separately. So if you spend your money on an airbox that is missing those you will end up buying another airbox that has them if you wish to use the airbox. Ed

dur65geo wrote: Thank you Ed, in hindsight you were clear it just didn't penetrate my concrete head. I guess I was not believing that there would be two filters on ebay without such an essential piece. Now I'm clear what that piece is. thx again.
It is weird, but I see so many airboxes on eBay without the cap or the internal piece. I cannot image what folks do with those pieces unless the eat them.  Ed

I'll get that to you this weekend. I only have one that's not on a motorcycle and I don't feel like wrestling any others off as those boots are crap and make removal difficult. Sorry for the delay, I'm currently on a road trip, first of the year.dur65geo wrote: can you send a photo of the one in best condition Ron? You can email me too if you like dur65geo@yahoo.com
