KZ400 Carb Bolt Disaster was created by ShaCvet
Short story: Needed to replace carb boots...tried everything....then after my father tried successfully removed one with notching and hammering to turn it, he moves on....then this happened! Oh and not to mention one is broken off in the head too. Is this even fixable?

Would suggest finnesse and heat with a penetrating fluid next time.
Yes it's fixable, would need to take off head and get it tig welded inside AND out, smoothed out and re-assembled, or just get a new head for it

Thank you for the photo. It so clearly demonstrates what I and others have warned folks about many times on this website - when removing stubborn fasteners excessive force is never necessary and will very often cause the owner excessive pain. Simply soaking the fastener with Kroil for 2 or 3 days and using the correct tool prevents such damage every time. The bad part is that you learned this lesson the hard way; it's a shame you didn't ask advice before damaging your bike. Ed

I'm glad it could be saved.
Heat, penetrating oil and patience will work just about every time.
