Vesrah gaskets, and install Q's was created by skooterbum4real
Are the Vesrah gaskets a reliable gasket to use for the head gasket ??

Also, is there anything that is recommended to put on the head gasket surface during installation ?? Like a gasket sealer, copper seal, anything like that ??

Thanks,

I have the same set and am doing this also this week. I bought mine from z1enterprises so I trust that they are a good set. I have asked about sealants and everyone is saying the head gaset goes on dry with no sealant.

I'm a little gun shy, as I've done a lot of Googling about the Vesra gaskets. Most posts have said there a good reliable gasket, but it's unclear about any kind of sealer on the head gasket. I read to many posts saying use some, and then not to use any ??

Did any instructions come in your gasket set ??

I was hoping to get a response by someone on the forum that has actually used them, and tell how they installed the head gasket.

Good luck on your repair. I hope all goes well.....

Do not use any kind of sealer on the head gasket.

Vesrah is as good or better than OEM.

Did you get the o rings for between the cylinder and head? They don't come with the top end kit.

Vesrah are top quality.
Do not use any sealer etc on the head gasket except possibly a small amount of RTV fore and aft of the camchain tunnel if it's a one piece item.
Side casing and cam cover gaskets usually go on dry but will benefit from a light coat of oil or grease which will aid future removal/disassembly and re-use but won't affect their sealing abilities.

I'm looking at the Vesrah VG-448 complete engine gasket set. I believe it will come with everything I will need for the top end rebuild.

I'm thinking about purchasing the cam chain guides and install those while it's tore down. Any suggestions about this ?? As the bike only has 21,000. How long do the guides usually last ?? I don't want to buy something that's not needed......

Thanks for your replies !!

The factory Kawasaki service manual calls for "liquid gasket" application in select areas of the head gasket. The early 750/4's tend to weep a little oil on the ends of the head so I'd heed their advice.

As far as the gasket type to use, I'd go for OEM gaskets over Vesrah any day. Ebay seems pretty well stocked on the gaskets so you should be able to find what you need for a reasonable price. I'm in the process of rebuilding my engine and that's what I did anyway.
