Exhaust ventury

Just installed my new K fac exhaust on my 74 Z1. It came with a piece that fit between the collector and the exhaust tip. It is a ventury, I'm sure. Any of you care to tell me how this enhances the perfomance? The motor woke up nicely and runs totally smooth once more. The sound is great with the street baffle.

it enhances the scavenge effect
kinda the oppisite of a expansion chamber on a 2 stroke
