Ok, bit the bullet and ordered a Dyna-S, 3-ohm coils, and wires, all from Z-1. Please, nobody tell my wife what this is all costing. :S

Not sure how long it will take to arrive, or when I'll have time to put it all on.

Got stock points and condensers now.

I've seen the color pictures people have posted here. Any other hints?

Thanks in advance.

Just follow the instructions that come in the box, you will be amazed at how far the system will throw a spark.

Good choice on Z1 and Dyna. I've had a Dyna-S on my Kz 1000 for almost 30 years, no problems, set it and forget it. Plus, the guys at Z1 and Dyna are great when it comes to customer support. Just last year spoke to both to replace the defective igition system on the Suzuki Gs 300. They were a great help. By the way, the bike cost me only a hundred and i have at least 3 times that in the igition alone. Like you said, don't tell the wife. But, have you played golf and paid greens fees? Yikes!

Be sure to use the shrink rap or tape on the terminals like old man rock shows so you don't short nothing and after setting the timing check the over all advanced timing with a light.

My timing at idle needs to be maybe one line or slightly more clock wise to get full advance at 3,500 to 4,000. With it right on the money at idle its at least 2 or 3 lines away from the advance marks.

Also If you ever crank the motor over with the plug wires off say to check compression be sure to un hook the power to the ignition and coils. I think I might have blown a module that way and have been warned by others on here to do this.
