Be sure the points gaps are set (0.35 mm ) at the widest opening (when on the highest part of the points cam) before trying to adjust the timing. Ed

It looked like it, but perhaps I am "off" a bit...I will keep trying...as always, thanx, Ed! I SO appreciate the feedback! Nobody I know personally can work on these old rascals...

Well, I have set & re-set points COUNTLESS times...they are gapped correctly. When my continuity beeper stops for a given set of points, I am nowhere NEAR being able to rotate mounting plate & line up with it's "F" mark (on either set of points...)WAY off! advancer only mounts one way...Same with points plate ...WHAT am I missing? :S

Is it possible that the advancer may have been damaged and is not running true? Ed

The bottom plate of advancer, (from which weights are pivoting) definitely has a little "wobble" , when rotated in hand on new bolt. longitudinally, "through the tube" looks fine...new straight bolt dropped smoothly through...If that is all that it could be, then that's what I needed to know....they are out there, but most look rough or are muy expensivo! Thanks Ed !
