I recently did some work on my front end. During reassembly I had the break calipers off and was putting the front wheel back on. My KZ1000-P7 bike has the half moon clamps with the two bolts on the bottom of the fork arms that hold the front axle. After I had the clamp bolts tightened (front bolt first, then back bolt 13 ft-lbs) and the axle bolt tightened (51 ft-lbs), I noticed that the front wheel did not spin freely. There was something holding the wheel back. The break calipers were off so there was zero break drag. I have other bikes and with the front wheel of the ground an easy spin will keep them turning for some time.

I did find the axle fork clamps to be a bit confusing. Do you tighten he axle bolt first and then the clamp bolts. That is what I did.

Bad wheel bearings?

Nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect.

Check the position of your speedometer drive. If it is not aligned properly it can cause the symptoms you described. Ed
