Hi everyone when you install an oil cooler to a kz900 do i have to add extra oil to the engine or does it take the same amount of oil after an oil change? thanks.

you will have to add extra oil. How much is to be determined. The lines and the cooler hold extra oil the length ID of lines and the size of the cooler will vary. I would suggest filling it normal, running it for 10-15 seconds and shutting it down. Hold the bike level (not on the center stand) and add until the site glass is at the correct level.

After I put my oil cooler on mine took about a extra 1/2 qt.
1977 KZ1000A With 1980 KZ1000A MKII engine, Wiseco 1105 kit, Dyna S Ignition, 3 Ohm Dyna Coils, Cams, Mikuni RS34 Carbs, Vance and Hines Pro Pipe with Comp Baffle

Same here....after installing my oil cooler, I ended up with right about 1/2 quart more oil.
1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110
