I have a 1982 kz750 spectre and there is a vacuum activated switch under the fuel tank. Can anyone tell me what this is and can I get rid of it. Thank you

Vacuum operated petcock allows fuel flow in ON position or in RES position only when the engine is running, and always allows fuel flow when in PRI position (even when the engine isn't running).

Good Fortune! :)

You can install a manual fuel valve, but you have to remember to switch it to OFF whenever the bike is parked... otherwise, you may get some carburetor overflow.

The bolt-hole spacing on your Spectre is probably 34mm. If so, here's a fuel valve topic with some options: KZR topic - Manual fuel valve option

That's not what I ment let me explain. On carbs 1 and 4 there is a vacume line coming off each one and the join together at a t. From their the linen goes to this switch bolted to the gram that goes to a big hose that connects to the air cleaner box. I don't know what it is

I think the switch in question is the "Valve Assembly, Air Switch" as shown below. Ed

The "clean air system" may easily be removed and discarded.

But watch out for a squadron of black helicopters with EPA marshals rappelling down toward you.

Good Fortune! :)

No harm.
No extra heat.
No downside (except exhaust emissions).

Removes potential air leak sources.
