Broken part on the engine : welding or epoxy?
30 Mar 2014 09:07 - 30 Mar 2014 09:10
Hi,
Whilst trying to replace my tachometer cable, i broke the bit on the engine side (not sure what it´s called, pics attached).
This had been broken by the previous owner and stuck with epoxy glue. I tried this but it broke again as soon as i screwed the cable in, the pressure being probably too strong.
Is there an alternative like welding? And if so what type of welding, aluminium?
Many thanks for your help, I can't drive without as engine oil pours out from there... :woohoo:

Yes, it is aluminum and it can be permanently welded back in place by a competent welder. Ed
