One possible reason could be a too tight intake valve causing backfire through the carb.

If it started after installing a 4 into 1 pipe or pod filters it's usually a lean mixture install one size larger pilot. jets. If it started without any mods being done then I would look at air leaks at manifolds or the pilot system is getting dirty.

Bikes with the air suction system will backfire big and loud when you close the throttle if the system is malfunctioning, which is very common.

The easy remedy is to remove the system and cap off all ports.
