I have an '88 KZ1000-P7 police bike and I'm looking for a recommendation for a good sprocket and chain combo recommendation. The bike comes stock with a 630 chain running a 15/41 front/rear sprocket tooth ratio. For a 630 chain, what would be a better tooth ratio for touring? I have also read that there are advantages to moving to a 530 chain. If I moved to a 530 chain what would be a good touring tooth ratio? Any other concerns with moving from a 630 chain to a 530 chain?

Im not a police model guy , but my LTD came from the factory with a 15 x 33 gear ratio in 630 chain. How much heavier your bike might be could be a issue ,

After checking the standard set up for non police bike versions as Street Fighter LTD recommended, I decided to go from a 41 tooth rear sprocket to a 33 tooth sprocket to match the non police bike versions. I found a five year old post from Jeff at Z1 that suggested this to others. I'm not too worried about the extra weight of the police bike over standard versions. I'm not too fat so I should be fine. Maybe the weight of my extra touring gear will make me regret that statement. But on other bikes I have added trunks and saddlebags and loaded them with lots of touring travel goodies and not had a problem.

I'll let you know how it works out.
