Hi im starting to rebuild my engine after completely stripping and blasting. Do the cam shaft bearings need to be replaced? They look ok but im no expert.
Also do you know how to find markings on the conrod and crankshaft to determine what bearing colour i need to replace these as there is some play at the big end.
Any help would be greatfully recieved.

There are no cam bearings, the cam journals ride directly on the aluminum head.
If you don't have a manual, there are a few available for download, and it will tell you what colors and how they are identified. Measure, measure, measure, and measure again.

You might want to check the bearing clearance with plastigauge before replacing anything. May not need it.

You put the gauge in under the bearing cap and torque down then remove bearing cap and compare width of gauge strip to chart. It tells you the clearance.
