WOW!!
I guess when mine dies...Ill just park it. Glad I bought another bike so I got a spare!
Seems like a Dam Rip off to me!
But then again, I guess its the laws of supply and demand, as long as there are very few folks doing this, and few parts suppliers, they'll get away with charging this....to put it in perspective....Google complete Small Block Chevy rebuilt or new! I bet ya can buy one for this price or close to it!
Maybe its what it is, but that don't make it "Right"
Don't like my opinion? Sorry! Dont' care!... But it is my opinion and everyone's entitled to theirs......Just Saying
Regards

Sure you can accomplish slightly cheaper if doing yourself, finding used parts etc... but think bout it for a minute, this crap adds up real fast for new components.
Example:
Piston kit @ boring + shipments (postage for shipping your cylinder out plus to you) ~ $700
Camshafts $500
Head new valve, seals, guides, porting, gaskets $700
complete gasket & seal kit $100
Timing chain, guides, rollers etc... $300
Coils and ignition $300
That's $2600 right off the go if doing yourself... Now throw in all the other crap they're including, ya adds up real fast. And if you haven't done this yourself, it is time consuming...
Now throw into the price :pinch: new CR's/RS carbbies... $700
New Kerker exhaust $600-$800)
Plus they're not doing it for free just because you're a nice guy...

Speed costs money, how much you want to spend.
The person that runs the shop is not there to break even, he is there to turn a profit.
Not a bad price. You might find some fly by night guy that will give you a deal deal price, but how is his work??

I have 85k miles on the bottom end of my '79 still original. The valves do need doing regularly and I bored it at 70k, but the bottoms are strong.roy-b-boy-b wrote: I have never had KZ with a bad bottom end and it seems if you just bought a piston kit and your valves did not need tipping you could hand lap them and ride on. :woohoo:
