Only changes between "79 and "80 are cosmetic.

I plan to check compression and clean the carbs tomorrow. Hopefully i won't have to pull the valve covers off. There's snow on the ground here and i have to work on the bike in it. So the easier the fix the better. Im tired of the cold lol.

Second you are having to run it choked to get it to idle, which richens it up and is then causeing it to run too rich.
Cure both problems the easy way by puting a stock airbox back on it or....
the hard way by getting a dyno jet kit and spending LOTS of time playing with the jetting and tuning till you get it to resemble a normal running bike.

Perhaps insufficient clearance.

The problem is that now i have fuel blowing out the exhaust on the right side. Im assuming that its coming from number 3 because i left the petcock on prime and it was the only one that leaked. I checked spark on it and i have good spark on all cylinders.
How does the fuel go all the way to the exhaust without being burnt with good spark? Could it just be that the float levels are too high?

Would suspect at least one carb is flooding -- perhaps due to a leaking float valve -- and furnishing excessive fuel mixture or raw gasoline into a combustion chamber which excessive fuel is exiting through the exhaust.
At least some, if not all, of the excessive fuel isn't being combusted.
In my experience, partial combustion may result in black exhaust smoke and gasoline odor from the exhaust. However, raw fuel blowing from the exhaust may more likely result from no combustion in one of the cylinders.
Could spray water mist onto the exhaust headers shortly after starting a cold engine, and see which cylinders are combusting (water spray instantly vaporizes and sizzles off an exhaust header from a combusting cylinder).
Good Fortune!
