KZ 1100 - broken flywheel magnets was created by trojan
I noticed that flywheel magnets on my KZ 1100 81´ are broken. What might have caused this? - las year I noticed that red stuff (glue??) on top of the nagnets startzed peeling off-could this be the cause?
So I´m looking for new flywheel. If any of you have it an would be willing to sell it please contact me; igorsiska01@gmail.com.

P.S.-Does rotor from any other model fit my 1100??

Thanks!! :)

Not sure of the price, but a company in England, make a replacement magnetic rotor:

If you go this route, plan on spending some time scratching your head when installing it. I would suggest you request the RO3-O2 (newer unit).
Here is a picture what it looks like.

Plan to remove your oil pan to find missing magnet fragments. If the rotor magnets are not intact, the pieces will mostly be in the bottom of the oil pan, and some will be hiding in your stator windings.
I hope you aren't missing pieces like I was when this picture was taken in 2010. They had been hiding in there for awhile, before the decision to take a peek. Yummy!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationSo I´ll probably go with this rotor: www.electrexworld.co.uk/acatalog/RO3.html . It´s compatible with ER5...soooo...do you think an ER5 rotor would fit-I can get those locally for cheap.

I was also looking at this:

As for the missing parts: I found more or less all pieces of the magnets, but not sure obout the red stuff. I noticed some of it when changing oil-mostly caught on the filter...Do you think it might have damaged the engine in any way? And if the oil pan clears the frame when remowing or do I have to pull the engine?

Regarding: I was also looking at this:
I think these are made in Belgium. I had a talk with the guy that makes them at the time I was considering the choice myself. I decided to go with the Electrex, so have no idea about the installation or any matters that may come up with this one. I think you will save some money going that route, and may save having similar installation headaches that I had...as well. I wish you well.
Good luck...
Far as the oil pan, the exhaust removal is all besides draining the oil and removing the filter. Engine stays put. Once you drop the pan, you will know what to do. On the side-stand, you will be able to look up inside the engine for remnant magnet pieces.
I found no traces of magnet or red stuff inside my engine, other than what was in the pan. Whew!
