oil cooler or not on turbo bike? was created by mrdatsunturbo
I have searched forum but cant decide what to do.
Last summer i was running Lockhart oil cooler but was not happy with oil pressure.
Should i remove it or is there other things to do? restrictor or some rerouting lines?
I am shure oil cooler is good for the engine but not if turbo is loosing oil pressure.

I would remove it. There are a lot of guys in the UK running 750 turbos (bored out) without oil coolers.

Big question is how hot is the motor getting ? To Hot ?? Do you ride in heavy traffic with no air flow over motor ?
Is it real hot in Norway ? I have been planning to run a oil cooler on my turbo but have had good luck over all without one with the exception of getting stuck in traffic . Do you boost the motor constantly creating excess heat ?

No it is not hot in Norway and it is not often i hit maximum boost pressure,
so when engine is warm and i can read oil gauge on engine and it is less.
And also engine noise is more ticking on cruising.
So thanks a lot and i will remove oil cooler before summer.
Previous owner of turbokit had a turbo failure and i will not risk that.

Was Just kidding about Hot in Norway
Just change the oil regularly, Use Good ,proper oil, and you should be good to go.
When I was living and working in Phoenix Arizona I put a oil cooler on my Harley touring bike and was happy how it helped control engine temps, but in Northern climates if you don't ride in city traffic you will be fine.
Im not concerned with oil pressure readings as these motors require flow vs pressure and if oilcoolers were bad on these KZs I think OMR would pull his off his Phoenix based bike.
Enjoy the Turbo !!!!
